PAI closes 31 industrial plots in eight areas over multiple violations

The Public Authority for Industry (PAI) has ordered the closure of 31 industrial plots across eight areas in Kuwait for violating regulations governing industrial activities, including illegal subletting, unauthorized commercial operations, improper waste disposal and the use of industrial premises for workers’ accommodation without permission.

The closures were carried out under decisions issued by the Acting Director General of the authority and published in the Official Gazette. The affected properties are located in Al-Na’ayem, South Amghara, Shuwaikh Industrial Area, Al-Rai, Al-Mirqab, Kabd, Sulaibiya and Al-Jahra, including craft expansion areas in Sulaibiya and Jahra.

The violations identified by the authority covered a range of breaches of industrial licensing and land-use regulations. These included encroachment on state property, leaving allocated plots closed or unused, conducting commercial activities with expired licenses or contracts, and using industrial premises for purposes other than those for which they were designated.

Other violations involved dividing industrial plots and subletting them without authorization, dumping construction debris and other waste, and using facilities to accommodate workers without permission. The authority also identified cases where appropriate health and safety requirements for the working environment were not being met.

The authority has given the violators a one-month grace period from the date of closure to rectify the violations and remove their causes. It warned that failure to comply within the specified period would result in stricter penalties and further legal action in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

The enforcement action highlights the authority’s efforts to regulate the use of industrial land, prevent unauthorized commercial exploitation of allocated plots and ensure that industrial facilities comply with licensing, environmental, health and safety requirements.
