114-million-dinar desalination project gets nod to boost Kuwait’s water supply

The Central Agency for Public Tenders has approved the recommendation of the Ministry of Electricity and Water to award a tender for the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of the Doha Seawater Desalination Plant, Phase Two to the lowest bidder, at a total value of 114 million dinars.
The ministry is now preparing to submit the project’s tender documents, covering a production capacity of 60 million gallons per day, to the Audit Bureau to secure final approval before signing the contract with the successful contractor, reports Al-Rai daily.
The project represents a continuation of Phase One, which was implemented in previous years, as the ministry advances its development agenda, particularly in strengthening electricity and water production infrastructure.
Meanwhile, CAPT has approved the ministry’s recommendation to award contracts for maintenance works, including alarm and fire-fighting systems at the Doha West Power Generation Station, as well as annual maintenance of air conditioning, ventilation, and heating systems in the Doha East area.
Separately, the Public-Private Partnership Projects Authority announced that its Supreme Committee has approved a one-month extension for the closing date of the Al-Khairan Station – Phase One project, pushing the deadline to the end of May.
