Kuwait foils second ISIS terror plot in 48 hours, arrests citizen over drone attack plan
Kuwait’s State Security Service has thwarted a second terrorist plot linked to ISIS within 48 hours, arresting a citizen accused of preparing to use explosives and a drone to target a vital facility, the Ministry of Interior said Wednesday.
The latest case brings the number of people arrested in two separate ISIS-related investigations to three. Two minors were arrested in the first case after contacting members of the terrorist organization and receiving training in explosives manufacturing, allegedly with the intention of targeting a place of worship.
In the second case, a citizen was arrested after security investigations found that he had received training in the manufacture of explosives and drones and had built a drone with the alleged intention of using it to target a vital facility. The two cases highlight the State Security Service’s continued proactive efforts to identify and disrupt terrorist activities and plans before they can be carried out.

The Ministry of Interior said the State Security Service foiled a terrorist plot targeting a vital facility following precise security monitoring and surveillance operations. According to the ministry, investigations established that the accused had joined the ISIS terrorist organization and had received training related to the manufacture of explosives and drones.
Investigators also found that he had manufactured a drone that he allegedly intended to use in carrying out his terrorist plan and targeting a vital facility. The ministry said the necessary legal procedures were taken against the suspect, who was referred to the competent authority to complete the investigations and take the appropriate measures in accordance with the law.
Security services vow continued vigilance
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that its security services will continue their proactive efforts to monitor and confront activities and plans that could threaten Kuwait’s security and stability.
The ministry stressed that it would not tolerate anyone seeking to undermine the security of the country or the safety of citizens and residents, and said suspicious activities would be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
The two cases underscore the authorities’ focus on preventing potential terrorist attacks before they are carried out and maintaining security and stability across Kuwait.
