Kuwait foils ‘terror plot’ targeting vital facility, arrests ISIS-affiliated citizen
Kuwait’s State Security Service has foiled yet another alleged Islamic State (ISIS) terror plot targeting a vital facility in the country and arrested a Kuwaiti national suspected of being involved in the planned attack.
The Ministry of Interior said the suspect, who was affiliated with ISIS, was arrested before he could carry out the plot. The operation uncovered what authorities described as preparations involving explosives and drones.
According to the ministry, investigations found that the suspect had received training in the manufacture of explosives and drones. He had also succeeded in building a drone that he allegedly intended to use to target a vital facility in Kuwait. The ministry did not identify the facility that was allegedly targeted.
The suspect was referred to the relevant authorities for further legal action, the Interior Ministry said. The case highlights Kuwait’s continued security efforts to prevent terrorist activity and disrupt plots before they can be carried out.
