
Two people were reportedly shot in an encounter with the Secret Service near the White House on Saturday evening.
One of them is believed to be a bystander and the other is the suspect; they were rushed to hospital in critical condition, CNN reported citing a security official.
The Secret Service’s uniformed division responded to a report of a person firing a weapon near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street Northwest. They managed to subdue the suspect and recover a pistol believed to belong to the suspect.
President Donald Trump was at the White House residence when the shooting took place, according to the report. FBI agents were on the scene and supporting Secret Service responding to the incident.
