Strategic plans, initiatives under review to enhance governance
The Government Performance Follow-up Agency is overseeing ministries’ five-year strategic plans and performance indicators to ensure effective system implementation and outcomes.
• The ‘Government Performance Management System’ aims to develop strategic plans with a clear vision and mission, prepare specific and measurable operational plans and objectives, and link these plans to performance indicators aligned with government entities’ objectives.
To enhance government performance and improve efficiency across various sectors, the Government Performance Follow-up Agency is actively working to finalize the “Government Performance Management System” project, in line with the Council of Ministers’ directive mandating its adoption by all government agencies.
In this regard, informed sources revealed to Al-Rai newspaper that a government meeting was recently held, involving the team formed by the Council of Ministers and led by the Government Performance Follow-up Agency, along with relevant government agencies.
The meeting focused on discussing the project, its implementation mechanisms, organizational readiness, databases, and the preparedness to follow up on and develop the strategic plans of each government entity.
The sources added that the agency is monitoring the strategic plans of ministries, government bodies, and institutions, including their five-year (operational) plans, objectives, projects, and strategic initiatives, as well as the performance indicator measurement system. This is to ensure the optimal application of the system and achieve the desired outcomes.
According to the sources, the system aims to develop strategic plans with a clear vision and mission, prepare specific and measurable operational plans and objectives, and link these plans to performance indicators aligned with government entities’ objectives.
These indicators also comply with the entities’ foundational laws, state laws, the national development plan, the government’s work program, and Kuwait Vision 2035. Additionally, the system ensures the evaluation of employees at various job levels based on these indicators.
The sources emphasized that the success of this project relies on the serious cooperation and commitment of all government entities, noting that it represents a significant shift towards enhancing institutional performance and achieving sustainable development goals.
