Sheikh, government official, and doctor nabbed for drug trafficking

The authorities seized half a kilogram of narcotics in their possession, and the three suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution, which charged them with drug trafficking and ordered their detention.

During interrogation, the doctor made a surprising revelation, confessing that he obtained drugs from a friend—a member of the ruling family residing in Rumaithiya—who allegedly kept large quantities of narcotics at his home.

The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department of Drug Control, arrested three citizens on drug trafficking charges. The suspects include a member of the ruling family, a government ministry official, and a doctor from the Ministry of Health. Authorities seized half a kilogram of narcotics in their possession, Al Jaridanewspaper reported.

The operation was carried out with field follow-up from Major General Hamed Al-Dawas, Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs, and Brigadier General Mohammed Qabazard, Director of the General Department of Drug Control.

According to details from security sources, detectives received confidential information about a drug dealer operating in the South Surra area. This intelligence was based on the confessions of arrested addicts, who led investigators to their supplier. Detectives placed the suspect under surveillance and discovered that he was a senior official in a ministry, a position that initially placed him beyond suspicion. However, further monitoring confirmed his involvement in drug trafficking.

The source added that detectives arrested the dealer after arranging a drug deal through an undercover informant. During questioning, he admitted to acting as a middleman and revealed that he sourced drugs from a doctor working in the health sector who resides in Surra.

Detectives then informed the Deputy Attorney General of their findings and secured permission from the Public Prosecution to arrest the doctor and search his residence. Using another secret source, they arranged a narcotics purchase. The doctor was apprehended at the time of the transaction near his residence, with a quantity of marijuana in his possession. A subsequent search of his home uncovered a stash of heroin.

During interrogation, the doctor made a surprising revelation, confessing that he obtained drugs from a friend—a member of the ruling family residing in Rumaithiya—who allegedly kept large quantities of narcotics at his home. Detectives raided the suspect’s residence, arrested him, and seized half a kilogram of drugs along with a sensitive scale.

The three suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution, which charged them with drug trafficking and ordered their detention pending further investigation.
