Saud Al-Nasser Institute tackles global conflicts through seminar

The Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a seminar on Tuesday titled “The Art of Diplomacy in Resolving Conflicts,” featuring Dr. Athar Sultan Khan, Dean of the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations, along with heads of foreign missions and diplomats.
At the seminar, Dr. Khan highlighted current global challenges and the role of diplomacy, noting that over 122.6 million people worldwide have been forcibly displaced due to wars and conflicts. He emphasized that these figures reflect a deterioration of the international system and a decline in the effectiveness of traditional diplomacy.
Dr. Khan stressed that the return of displaced people to their homelands is vital to any political solution and peace agreement. He called for adopting the concept of genuine diplomacy through dialogue, as developed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Geneva School of Diplomacy, as an effective tool for resolving conflicts and achieving peace.
He added that returning to dialogue and consultation with all parties—including non-governmental actors—is the only way to address complex conflicts and achieve sustainable solutions.
