Qatar considers “remote work” and “flexible working hours”

The Qatari Council of Ministers approved the proposal of the civil services and government development bureau in Qatar regarding working hours, while considering remote working and flexible working hours.

The civil service bureau and government development in Qatar announced that flexible work hours and remote work system in government agencies will begin to be implemented on 29 September 2024. This comes within the framework of achieving the human and social development pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, as reported by the Arabic daily Al Qabas.

This system represents a positive step towards achieving the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030 and enhances sustainability in work environments in the government sector, without compromising work requirements, as it will allow employees to strike a work-life balance and empower the most vulnerable groups such as working mothers and people with disabilities.
