Political leadership strengthens Kuwait’s engineering sector

Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, highlighted political support for national engineering expertise and noted that the Kuwait Society of Engineers provides essential, free services to homeowners.

Eng. Faisal Al-Atel, President of the Kuwait Society of Engineers, highlighted the association’s voluntary efforts, which involve 20,000 volunteers from the country, all of whom are dedicated to serving Kuwait, the community, the profession, and engineers—pillars on which the association has been founded for 62 years.

Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, emphasized the political leadership’s support for national expertise in the crucial engineering sector. She noted that the Kuwait Society of Engineers offers essential services to every citizen with a home, free of charge, according to Al Rai newspaper.

In a press statement on the sidelines of her participation in the associations 62nd anniversary celebration at the Avenues Complex, Al-Huwailah expressed her happiness in taking part in the association’s exhibition. She noted that it is one of the leading associations in Kuwait, the Gulf, and globally, through her participation in several conferences in the United States.

She added that her presence at the ceremony is supported not only by the Ministry of Social Affairs but also by the political leadership, which backs national expertise in this important field.

We are proud of public benefit associations, and their presence is crucial in supporting social work. These associations are a milestone in Kuwait by offering various services to all segments of society, she said, praising the services provided by the association. These services, she explained, are essential for every citizen with a home, as the association offers free guidance on how to build a home, helping to avoid common mistakes during construction and design that could impact the future of the house.

Qualifying newly graduated engineers

In turn, Eng. Faisal Al-Atel, President of the Kuwait Society of Engineers, stated that the association’s members have presented many initiatives that have yielded positive results for Kuwaiti society. He pointed out that “the association plays a role in many committees that serve citizens and help qualify newly graduated engineers. Several initiatives have been introduced, such as collaborating with the Ministry of Affairs on two designs: one for the Salmiya Popular Café and another for the Al-Sulaibihat Café. We are also currently working on a project to unify umbrellas at mosques and cooperatives across Kuwait. The association is working with the Youth Authority on designing the building for the initiators. Additionally, we held a workshop with the municipal council to develop solutions to the Jalib Al-Sheikh crisis.”

He highlighted the association’s voluntary efforts, which involve 20,000 volunteers from the country, all of whom are dedicated to serving Kuwait, the community, the profession, and engineers—pillars on which the association has been founded for 62 years.

He further explained that through the Tawawf Center, agreements have been signed with several engineering firms to employ Kuwaiti engineers in private sector companies. The association has also taken the initiative to train new engineers in the private sector, offering this training free of charge to help them qualify for work in these companies.

Al-Atel calls for unified efforts to prioritize Kuwaiti employment in private sector

Al-Atel stated, “We have directed our colleagues at the Public Authority for Housing Welfare to unite efforts by linking the association’s employment center with government agencies through government contracts. These contracts should prioritize the appointment of Kuwaitis in the private sector, as we aim to engage youth in building the bright future of Kuwait.”

Scrutinizing certificates of engineers

Regarding the suspension of the cooperation protocol with the Public Authority for Manpower, Al-Atelexplained, “Since 1962, the association has been scrutinizing certificates, and we rarely approve supervision engineers, consulting engineers, professional engineers, and many licenses that permit individuals to practice the profession in Kuwait. Our role extends beyond the memorandum of practicing the profession related to the Public Authority for Manpower.
