PAM disperses two worker gatherings, refers employer for investigation
Over 700 workers involved; authorities initiate legal action

The Public Authority for Manpower said it had intervened in two separate worker gatherings over two consecutive days, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior’s Public Security Sector, as part of efforts to safeguard workers’ rights and enforce labor regulations.
In a statement, the authority said this happened after it received a report from the Public Security Sector regarding a gathering of more than 400 workers.
A field team from the Labor Relations Department and the collective complaints unit was dispatched to the site, where the situation was brought under control and the gathering was dispersed in coordination with security authorities.
The authority added that the employer, relevant company officials, and the executive manager were summoned for questioning, reports Al-Rai daily.
The case was referred to the General Department of Criminal Investigation (Residency Affairs Investigation) after indicators and suspicions emerged regarding labor practices, recruitment procedures, and working conditions, pending further legal action.
It stressed that its emergency response and collective complaints teams operate around the clock to receive reports and handle urgent cases in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, ensuring swift intervention and protection of rights of all parties.
The authority urged employers and workers to adhere to signed contracts and applicable laws, warning against collective work stoppages or violations, and emphasizing the importance of resorting to official dispute resolution channels.
It also said interviews were conducted with workers to determine the causes of the gathering, which revealed disputes between groups of workers and their employer.
Appropriate legal and precautionary measures were taken to safeguard workers’ rights.
On the following day, the authority noted a second gathering of around 300 workers outside its headquarters, which was also dispersed in coordination with security authorities. Investigations continued through worker testimonies to determine the circumstances of the dispute.
