No health risk from infected livestock, says Agriculture Authority
The disease affects livestock economically by reducing milk production but does not impact meat or dairy safety for humans

The Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) has reassured the Kuwaiti citizens and residents that consuming meat or milk from cows infected with foot-and-mouth disease will not pose any health risk.
The Authority’s Director-General Salem Al-Hai emphasized on the commitment of PAAAFR to containing the disease, with efforts underway to import a vaccine expected to arrive in early May.
He confirmed that, according to medical reports, the disease affects livestock economically by reducing milk production but does not impact meat or dairy safety for humans.
The disease, which affects cows primarily, was first detected on April 7 in Sulaibiya, and has since spread to 10 farms, with 1,400 out of 23,000 cows affected.
The situation remains under control, according to Dr. Khaled Al-Fayez, who spoke at an awareness seminar.
