The US recorded over 44,000 new coronavirus cases and over 1,200 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The tally showed that 44,766 new cases and 1,277 deaths were reported in the nation as the total cases reached 2,635,538 and 127,425 deaths.
On Tuesday, director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Dr. Anthony Fauci told a Senate hearing.
“We are now having 40-plus thousand new cases a day. I would not be surprised if we go up to 100,000 a day if this does not turn around and so I am very concerned.”
