India announced 32,695 COVID-19 positive cases during the last 24 hours taking the infection cases so far to 968,876, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said Thursday.

It said in its latest update that death toll in the country due to the pandemic rose to 24,915 with 606 fresh deaths in the last 24 hours.

Data from the ministry showed that 612,815 people have recovered from the deadly disease as 35 Indian states are under the grip of coronavirus.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, New Delhi, Telangana, Karnataka, Assam and Bihar are among the worst affected Indian states.

The government has asked people, governments and local authorities to take all necessary precautions as the nation entered into the second phase of unlocking, adding guidelines in the containment zones should be followed strictly.
