Indian authorities said on Friday that there were 10,956 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours while one day coronavirus deaths in the country rose to 396 people.
The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that death toll due to COVID-19 in the country climbed to 8,498 as total positive cases so far in the country jumped to 297,535 people.
The ministry revealed that there were 141,842 active cases and 147,195 infected people have recovered.
Maharashtra, New Delhi, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are the worst hit Indian states as the deadly virus spread to 35 states.
Indian government announced its decision to extend the lockdown in containment zones while giving key relaxations in the less affected areas.
