Indian government said on Monday that there were 410 deaths due to COVID-19 and 19,906 fresh corona virus cases in the country in the last 24 hours.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest report that the total number of positive cases in the country rose to 528,859 and the death toll rose to 16,095 cases.
The ministry said that there are 203,051 active cases and 309,713 people recovered. Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat are considered the worst affected Indian states in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Indian government had announced its decision to extend the lockdown in containment zones while giving key relaxations in the less affected areas.
However, many state governments are unwilling to extend the lockdown as it has already made the normal life and economic activities in jeopardy.
