Indian government sources said on Tuesday that 553 more people have died in the last 24 hours due to COVID-19 and 28,498 new cases were registered across the country.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its update that the death toll due to coronavirus infection so far in the country rose to 23,727 cases while the overall positive cases jumped to 906,752.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, New Delhi, Telangana, Karnataka, Assam, and Bihar are among the worst affected Indian states.
The government has asked people, governments, and local authorities to take all necessary precautions as the nation entered into the second phase of unlocking, adding guidelines in the containment zones should be followed strictly.
