Indian government said on Thursday that death toll due to COVID-19 pandemicآ rose to 12,237 while the total number of positive cases hit 366,946.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its update that in the last 24 hours, 334 died dueآ to coronavirus infection and 12,881 fresh cases were reported.
There are 160,384 active cases while 194,325 people have recovered so far. The Indian government had announced its decision to extend the lockdown in containment zones while giving key relaxations in the less affected areas.
However, many state governments are unwilling to extend the lockdown as it has already made normal life and economic activities in jeopardy.
