India said on Tuesday that 587 people died following coronavirus infection and 37,148 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours from across the country.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its update that the total COVID-19 infection in the country jumped to 1,155,191 people and death toll due to coronavirus so far stood at 28,084.
The number of people who recovered from the deadly disease stood at 724,578 as the pandemic hit 35 Indian states. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, New Delhi, Telangana, Karnataka, Assam and Bihar are among the worst affected Indian states.
The government has asked people, governments and local authorities to take all necessary precautions as the nation entered into the second phase of unlocking, adding guidelines in the containment zones should be followed strictly.
