Municipal Technical Committee Approves Kuwait-Saudi Railway Link Route
Committee also clears power infrastructure projects, transformer station allocation, and urban development requests

The Technical Committee of the Municipal Council has approved the allocation of the railway route for the planned rail link project connecting Kuwait with Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), according to reports published by Al-Rai daily.
The approved railway route will extend from Kuwait’s southwestern border to the Al-Shadadiya area, representing a major step in strengthening regional transportation connectivity and infrastructure integration between GCC countries.
During its meeting chaired by Engineer Munira Al-Amir, the committee also approved several infrastructure and development-related requests submitted by various government entities.
Among the approvals was a request by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy for the allocation of a cable route beginning from the main electricity substation in Al-Wafra residential area, Block 1, extending north toward the Abu Kharjin and Al-Subaihiya areas.
The committee further approved the allocation of a route for overhead power lines connecting a main electricity substation in the Sabah Al-Ahmad residential area with the Mohammed Al-Ahmad Naval Base in the Al-Zour and Sawla area.
In addition, the committee approved a request by the Ministry of Interior to amend a previous Municipal Council decision concerning locations of driving schools formerly used by the Kuwaiti Driving School Company.
Initial approval was also granted for the reorganization of part of the plots in Block 1 of the Al-Siddiq area.
The committee approved three separate requests submitted by the Ministry of Defense, including the allocation of part of a public park in Al-Shaab, Block 8, for the establishment of a secondary transformer station.
Meanwhile, the executive body referred back for further response a request from a real estate company seeking approval to add two floors to a multi-storey parking building in Sharq, Block 8. Another request related to amendments in the distribution schedule for a plot within the Block 45 redevelopment project in the former Sharq Hawally area, currently represented by Block 11 in Salmiya, was also returned for updates.
