MPW pushes forward strategic megaprojects across Kuwait under Al-Mashaan’s oversight

With unwavering determination, the Ministry of Public Works has intensified efforts to complete its flagship infrastructure projects under its strategic development plan.
Among the most prominent initiatives are the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 (T2), major road maintenance programs, and railway linkage projects—each representing key pillars of Kuwait’s sustainable development agenda.
Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, has carried out consecutive site visits to both the port and airport sites, affirming the government’s commitment to fast-tracking these vital projects. These visits underscore the directives of Kuwait’s political leadership, which views the timely execution and operational readiness of such infrastructure as a national priority.
A Milestone in the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port Project
The government’s determination to advance the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project was recently reinforced when the Cabinet approved and accepted the nomination submitted by the Chinese government for direct contracting with the China State Construction and Transportation Corporation. This decision resulted in the signing of a comprehensive contract for pre-construction studies, design, and project services—marking a decisive step toward activating one of Kuwait’s most important development ventures.
Between the Cabinet’s approval and the formal signing, Minister Al-Mashaan, accompanied by Chinese officials, conducted a series of field inspections to assess project progress and establish a clear timeline for implementation.
Momentum Builds at Kuwait International Airport (T2)
Echoing the same hands-on approach, Dr. Al-Mashaan continues to oversee the implementation of the three key packages of the new Kuwait International Airport (T2) project. In coordination with relevant authorities, the Minister is working to remove potential obstacles and ensure that the project remains on track and aligned with its approved schedule.
Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Upgrades Underway
In parallel, the Ministry has launched a wide-scale road and infrastructure maintenance campaign across Kuwait. Following the signing of contracts with approved companies, work is actively underway on highways and arterial roads as part of a comprehensive three-year road rehabilitation program.
Additionally, the Ministry has initiated infrastructure upgrades in key residential areas, including Yarmouk, Cordoba, and eastern Raqqa. These efforts come as the Ministry prepares to float new tenders for further infrastructure rehabilitation projects in various regions across the country.
