Ministers of Social Affairs, Commerce reassure public on strategic stockpile sufficiency

Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah and Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel affirmed on Thursday that Kuwait’s strategic stockpile of essential commodities is sufficient, and that joint coordination between their ministries is ongoing to ensure steady availability in the market.
The assurance came in a joint statement following a meeting between the two ministers, held as part of the implementation of the national emergency plan. The meeting also falls within the framework of field visits and direct oversight of the readiness of cooperative societies across the country, reports Al-Rai daily.
The statement highlighted that the meeting reviewed reports from field teams that regularly monitor inventory levels and assess supply and distribution data to ensure quick and effective responses to any developments.
During the meeting, both ministers instructed local producers and factories to give priority to supplying cooperative societies, which play a central role in storing and distributing food commodities. They commended cooperatives for working around the clock to maintain market stability and meet the needs of consumers.
They also urged the public to avoid unnecessary hoarding of food items, warning that improper storage at home could lead to spoilage and waste. The ministers reassured citizens and residents that food supplies are stable and there is no reason for concern.
