Bahrain, UK discuss regional developments, impacts on global economy, stability

Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa discussed Thursday with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, as well as regional developments and their impact on the global economy and regional and international security and stability, in addition to issues of mutual interest.

The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported that the meeting took place at Sakhir Palace, in the Bahraini capital, Manama, where Prince Salman affirmed the continuous progress of Bahraini-British relations and the strength of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

He noted that these relations catch the support and attention of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and King Charles III, with a shared commitment to expanding cooperation across various fields to achieve common goals.

He also highlighted the important role of the United Kingdom in strengthening security and stability, expressing appreciation for its active participation in countering Iranian attacks. Prince Salman reiterated Bahrain’s firm position calling for an immediate halt to Iranian hostile actions and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, noting that these attacks have caused human and material losses that require decisive action.

He emphasized that addressing Iranian threats must be comprehensive, including nuclear capabilities, ballistic missiles, drones, and support for proxy groups, while ensuring freedom of navigation and achieving lasting peace in the region.

He praised the high efficiency of Bahrain’s military and security forces in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, stressing the importance of Iran’s compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which condemns these attacks and calls for their immediate cessation. _ Kuna
