
According to data released by the Central Administration of Statistics yesterday, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 2.49% in February compared to the previous year.
The data also revealed that inflation rose by 0.22% month-on-month in February, driven by an increase in the prices of key groups that impact the CPI. Specifically, the prices of the food and beverage group rose by 5.23% year-on-year, and by 0.58% compared to the previous month.
The prices of the miscellaneous goods and services group increased by 5.46% year-on-year, and by 0.59% month-on-month. Meanwhile, the prices of the clothing and footwear group rose by 4.63% compared to February 2024, and by 0.42% compared to the previous month.
The prices of the housing services group increased by 0.90% year-on-year, while the remaining unchanged, month-on-month basis. In contrast, the prices of the transportation group declined by 1.19% year-on-year, but saw a slight increase of 0.07% month-on-month.
