Students face one-year expulsion in Egypt for filming teachers without permission
Egyptian Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif has issued strict instructions to all educational directorates and departments prohibiting the filming of any teacher inside a school without permission.
The minister also ordered a one-academic-year suspension for any student found to have used a camera, mobile phone or other recording device to film a teacher or member of the educational staff on school premises without prior official authorization.
The decision calls for strict action against violations involving the filming of teachers or the recording of video and audio inside classrooms. The ministry said phones or other recording equipment used in such incidents would be confiscated and included in the official report documenting the case.
The ministry said the school environment has its own educational standards and that the measure is primarily intended to protect teachers’ dignity, uphold the educational authority of schools and prevent behavioral violations that could negatively affect the educational process.
It also stressed that recording and sharing videos of teachers on social media platforms constitutes a serious violation subject to immediate disciplinary action without exceptions.
The ministry called on parents to educate their children about the seriousness of such behavior and its potential legal and educational consequences for their academic future.
