Kuwaiti families open their hearts, adopting 658 unidentified children

• Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, emphasized that the ministry will spare no effort in supporting orphans, ensuring they receive equal educational and social opportunities to become active contributors to the nation’s future.

Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, highlighted fostering as a key service for orphans, helping integrate children of unknown parentage into society, with over 30 families participating in the initiative.

 

Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, stressed that supporting orphans and providing a nurturing environment is a collective responsibility requiring community cooperation. She highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop programs that empower orphans and foster their integration into society, Al Qabas newspaper reported.

During the annual celebration of Arab Orphan Day 2025, held under the theme “Our Future is Promising” and organized by the Family Nursery Department within the Social Welfare Sector, Al-Huwailah said, “This day represents an opportunity to affirm Kuwait’s commitment to the principle of social solidarity and renew our pledge to care for orphans and provide them with all means of support.”

She commended the efforts of the Social Welfare Sector and the Family Nursery Department in offering comprehensive care to orphans, highlighting their dedication to providing a supportive and safe environment that fosters growth and development.

She emphasized that the ministry will spare no effort in supporting orphans, ensuring they receive equal educational and social opportunities to become active contributors to the nation’s future.

Al-Huwailah also called on community members and institutions to embrace and support orphans, promoting compassion, social solidarity, and comprehensive social development. She stressed that this can be achieved by including all segments of society, particularly orphans, and offering them a stable life that contributes to a brighter future for both them and their country.

Kuwait plays a pioneering role in supporting special needs groups

For his part, Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, affirmed that Kuwait continues to play a pioneering role in supporting special needs groups, noting that a country’s progress is measured by its care for these groups.

He pointed out that the ministry’s efforts have led to the adoption of approximately 658 unidentified children by Kuwaiti families, all under the ministry’s full monitoring and supervision. He emphasized that this figure reflects the spirit of human solidarity within Kuwaiti society.

Dr. Al-Ajmi also noted that fostering is one of the key services provided to orphans, as it plays a vital role in integrating children of unknown parentage into society, reflecting the deeply humanitarian nature of Kuwaiti society. He mentioned that more than 30 families have embraced the role of fostering orphans.

Ensuring the rights of orphans

Dr. Saad Al-Shabo, Director of the Family Fostering Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs, emphasized that the celebration of Arab Orphan Day reflects Arab societies’ commitment to caring for orphans and ensuring their rights. He noted that dedicating this day highlights the importance of this segment of the population and the need to provide them with essential support.

Strengthening role of orphans in society

Al-Shabo explained that the Family Nursery Administration reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a dignified life and promising future for orphans by improving the services offered to them and strengthening their role in society.

He also underscored the importance of foster families in providing a stable and supportive environment, emphasizing that orphans are an integral part of society, and caring for them is an unwavering national and humanitarian responsibility.

New standards for ‘excellent work’

Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi announced the disbursement of excellent work bonuses to ministry employees. He noted that this year introduced new criteria to ensure these bonuses are awarded only to those who truly deserve them, using a more accurate and transparent evaluation mechanism.

Kuwaitization of supervisory positions

Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi revealed that the ministry is in the final stages of signing a cooperation protocol with the Public Authority for Manpower to Kuwaitize supervisory positions in cooperative societies. He expects the protocol to be signed this week.

Dr. Al-Ajmi confirmed that applications for these positions will be submitted through the “Fakhr” platform, eliminating human intervention in the selection process. Applicants will be evaluated based on a 90-point assessment test at a university, with only ten points allocated for personal interviews, ensuring the highest standards of transparency and impartiality.
