Kuwaiti Diving Team recovers sunken boat at Marina Sharq
The Kuwaiti Diving Team of the Al-Mabara Environmental Voluntary Foundation has successfully recovered a sunken boat from the Marina Sharq area in cooperation with relevant government authorities and marina management.
Team leader Waleed Al-Fadhel told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the emergency operation was launched after receiving a report of the vessel sinking. The team managed the recovery operation efficiently while adhering to the highest safety and security standards.
Al-Fadhel explained that the operation aimed to prevent marine pollution caused by possible fuel, oil and chemical leaks from the boat, protecting marine life, coral reefs and ensuring safe navigation in the area.
He stressed that the initiative reflects the team’s ongoing national mission to preserve Kuwait’s marine environment and strengthens cooperation with government and private institutions in protecting marine resources.
Established in 1986, the Al-Mabara Environmental Voluntary Foundation’s diving team has built a long record of marine conservation efforts and emergency assistance. Since 1991, the team has successfully salvaged more than 830 boats and yachts and continues to support vessel owners during marine emergencies.
The team also urged boat owners and sea users to take extra precautions during the current hot weather conditions by conducting regular maintenance checks, especially on electrical systems and engines, to prevent sudden breakdowns and protect marine property.
