Kuwait Women’s National Cricket Team gears up for ICC T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers in Thailand

The Kuwait Women’s National Cricket Team, captained by Amna Sharif, is ready to take flight to Thailand to compete in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers 2025—a crucial step in their journey to the global stage.

Before the qualifiers, the team will sharpen their competitive edge in a high-quality Quadrangular Series from May 1 to 7, facing formidable opposition from UAE, Thailand, and Hong Kong. This preparatory tournament is set to provide invaluable match experience and fine-tune strategies ahead of the main qualifying campaign.

A ceremonial send-off was hosted at Sulaibiya Cricket Ground, the heart of Kuwait cricket, where Kuwait Cricket Board President Mr. Haider Farman and Director General Mr. Sajid Ashraf delivered encouraging messages of belief and pride.

“It’s a proud moment for Kuwait Cricket to see our women’s team continually raise the bar with every international outing. We are confident they’ll fly the flag high in Thailand,” said Mr. Haider Farman.

Reflecting on the men’s recent success, he added: “Just as our men’s team has upset higher-ranked sides, we expect this women’s squad—full of heart and hunger—to make their own statement on the regional stage.”

Mr. Sajid Ashraf echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the team’s steady progress, saying, “Success doesn’t come overnight. It often takes a decade to break through, and we believe the next 12 months could be transformational for this team. The entire Kuwait cricket community stands firmly behind them.”
