Kuwait welcomes ceasefire stresses freedom of navigation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the State of Kuwait’s welcome of the announcement by His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, regarding the reaching of a ceasefire between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, while appreciating the efforts exerted to reach this announcement, and primarily the role played by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in sparing the region further escalation.
The State of Kuwait reaffirms its support for all mediation efforts and endeavors aimed at restoring calm, expressing hope that this announcement will lead to a comprehensive and sustainable settlement that enhances security and stability in the region.
The State of Kuwait reaffirms the importance of full adherence to the ceasefire announcement, to ensure the consolidation of calm and the creation of conditions for dialogue, stressing the necessity for the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies, including factions, militias, and armed groups loyal to it, to take the initiative to immediately cease all hostile acts and practices that undermine stability, and to respect the sovereignty of states, thereby ensuring that such violations are not repeated.
The State of Kuwait also stresses the necessity of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and all maritime passages, in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982.
