Kuwait summons Iran Ambassador over IRGC infiltration into Boubyan Island

The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry, represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Hamad Al-Mashaan, on Tuesday summoned Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait Mohammad Toutonchi, giving him a memo of protest over Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members’ infiltration into Boubyan Island and their gunfight with Kuwaiti army personnel.

The Kuwaiti official restated emphatic condemnation and denunciation of this hostile act, calling on Iran to stop such acts immediately and unconditionally, said the Foreign Ministry in a press release.

He also held Iran fully responsible for this blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and serious breach of international law, the Charter of the United Nations and UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2817/2026.

He underlined that the State of Kuwait has the full right to defend itself pursuant to Article 51 of the UN Charter and to take any measure to safeguard its sovereignty and the safety of its people and residents. – Kuna
