Kuwait sets world record with five consecutive remote robotic surgeries

Accomplishment not only sets a new world record but also showcases Kuwait’s robust medical infrastructure and the high competence
With over 1,800 robotic surgeries to date to date, with more than seven surgical robots now operating in Ministry of Health hospitals, Kuwait underscores its rising status as a regional and global hub for advanced medical care.
This comes as Kuwait made a groundbreaking medical breakthrough as the Ministry of Health successfully conducted five consecutive remote robotic surgeries — a global first.
The operations were led by Kuwaiti surgeon Dr. Saad Al-Dosari from Shanghai, China, while patients were treated at the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center in Kuwait using the advanced “MedBot” surgical robot.
Spanning a distance of over 7,000 kilometers, the telerobotic procedures targeted patients with kidney and prostate cancer. The Ministry highlighted the precision, 3D vision, minimal bleeding, and faster recovery enabled by the technology.
This accomplishment not only sets a new world record but also showcases Kuwait’s robust medical infrastructure and the high competence of its national healthcare professionals.
