235,000 visit visas issued since the launch of ‘Kuwait Visa’ platform
No single nationality dominates visa approvals

A security source revealed that immigration departments across Kuwait’s six governorates have approved around 235,000 visit visas since the launch of the “Kuwait Visa” platform last July.
The source told Al-Anba that visit visas are now open to all nationalities, with no restrictions as in the past. Each department approves roughly 1,000 visas per day, totaling about 6,000 visit visas daily across all residency departments.
The source added that no single nationality dominates visa approvals, explaining that on some days Arab visitors top the list, while on others, Asian nationals lead. The total figure also includes visas issued during the Gulf Zain 26 Cup, hosted recently in Kuwait.
The source noted that these facilitations aim to boost tourism, as visitors can now easily obtain tourist, business, or family visas.
The source added that authorities are currently reviewing the issuance of visit visas for fourth-degree relatives, questioning how a visit could be approved for an expatriate whose salary is around KD 250. There is also caution regarding family visits for elderly relatives, as approval depends on the applicant’s job and income level.
The source warned expatriates against bringing relatives to work in violation of visa terms, stressing that any visitor caught working will be deported, along with the sponsor, who will be blacklisted from re-entry.
The source explained that applicants can simply apply online through the “Kuwait e-Visa” portal, which grants electronic visas to eligible categories.
When asked whether GCC residents can obtain entry visas upon arrival, the source clarified that this privilege applies only to specific professions, such as managers and doctors.
However, the source emphasized that it is preferable to obtain the visa in advance through the “Kuwait Visa” platform, which currently offers four main services: tourist visas, family visit visas, government visit visas, and business visas, while waiving both the salary and national carrier requirements for family visits.
