“Kuwait remains at the forefront of nations committed in protecting children’s rights”

• Kuwait topped the “World Happiness Index for 2024” issued by the United Nations in cooperation with the Gallup Foundation and the Oxford Center.

• Kuwaiti child was classified as the “happiest” in the Arab world and the Gulf in terms of social support, well-being, health and freedom to make life decisions.

Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, called on the audience attending the celebration of “Arab Children’s Day” to stand for a minute of “silence and mourning” for the souls of the martyrs of Palestine and the children who are victims of the “Zionist bloodshed machine”.

Al-Huwailah categorically emphasized that Kuwait, under its wise leadership and insightful vision, always stands at the forefront of countries seeking to preserve the rights of children and ensure their protection and care.

The Minister Al-Huwailah, in her speech at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs’ celebration of Arab Child Day, which was held under her patronage under the title “Today’s Children, Tomorrow’s Leaders” and which was held today at the Regency Hotel, shared very important views for the future generation.

She mentioned that “We have made protecting children and developing their skills our top priorities, believing that children are the foundation for building societies and the future of nations” indicating that Kuwait has come a long way in this field, committed to international laws that protect children’s rights.

Furthermore, Al-Huwailah added, “We must commend the prominent role played by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in caring for children and providing them with a safe environment that enhances their skills and protects them against all forms of violence and abuse”.

On an affirmative note, Al-Huwailah expressed about the valuable and effective partnership between various government agencies and civil society institutions, which has proven its importance in supporting all initiatives that are primarily concerned with child care.

She stressed that these partnerships have formed a solid framework, which enhances the efforts made to care for, and protect children, thereby confirming everyone’s commitment towards the responsibility of protecting the future of this country.

The happiest in the Gulf

Sharing a significant insight, Iman Al-Enezi, Acting Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, said that “Kuwait embodies an example to be emulated in the field of child care.

Moreover, Al-Enezi also indicated that Kuwait has achieved remarkable accomplishments in promoting the welfare of children for decades, dedicating its efforts to being a land that nurtures talents and ambitions, as it proceeds from a strategic vision that guarantees a safe environment for our children”.

Similarly, Al-Enezi added that “thanks to these policies, Kuwait topped the World Happiness Index for 2024 issued by the United Nations in cooperation with the Gallup Foundation and the Oxford Center, where the Kuwaiti child was classified as the “happiest” in the Arab world and the Gulf in terms of social support, well-being, health and freedom to make life decisions”.

On the other hand, Al-Enezi reviewed the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in national efforts through developing integrated policies that enhance children’s rights.

This has made Kuwait a pioneer in the field of childhood at the regional and international levels, stressing that the role of the Council was embodied in the firm commitment towards working to enhance children’s rights and launching integrated strategies aimed at developing their skills, enhancing mental health, and caring for children in all aspects of life.

As a futuristic approach, Al-Enezi added that “We can also give our children the tools they need to face life’s challenges with confidence and positivity. Mental health is a fundamental pillar for their healthy growth and comprehensive development, and a pivotal step towards building a balanced society capable of facing challenges”.

Al-Enezi stressed that the achievements of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs are the result of the wise and inspiring leadership of Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, who contributes greatly in formulating policies that raise the level of childhood in Kuwait.

Similarly, encourage all the steps and procedures of the Council to form a sustainable social umbrella that enhances children’s skills and provides them with a safe and stable environment free of violence.
