Kuwait issues 96 licenses for major factories, fueling KD 96.9 million in investments
The Public Authority for Industry reports that licensed factories in 2024 will employ around 4,030 workers across 19 sectors, including metal products, food, chemicals, paper, plastics, furniture, and beverages.
• The licensed factories for 2024 include 17 for formed metal products, 15 for food products, 14 for non-metallic mineral products, nine for chemicals, eight for paper and related products, seven for rubber and plastic products, five for furniture, four for beverages, and three for base metals.
The Public Authority for Industry issued licenses for 96 major industrial establishments in the last fiscal year, with total investments amounting to 96.911 million dinars, according to Al Rai newspaper.
Data from the authority shows that the licensed factories in 2024 will accommodate approximately 4,030 workers and span 19 industrial sectors. These include 17 factories for formed metal products (excluding machinery and equipment), 15 for food products, 14 for non-metallic mineral products, nine for chemicals, eight for paper and its products, seven for rubber and plastic products, fivefor furniture, four for beverages, and three for base metals.
In addition to manufacturers of textiles, wood, and products from the Philippines, the list includes the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, unclassified machinery and equipment, clothing, leather products, printing and reproduction of registered media, electrical equipment, other manufacturing industries, and activities related to waste collection, treatment, disposal, and material recovery.
The authority aims to streamline industrial investors’ transactions in a single location while simplifying licensing procedures and the industrial register. It also focuses on monitoring implementation, evaluating the economic feasibility of industrial projects, and developing standardized criteria for granting and renewing industrial and craft licenses, ensuring compliance through simplified processes and a well-organized industrial registration system.
