Kuwait Foils Attempt to Smuggle 12 Kilograms of Shabu Hidden in Heavy Equipment

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Department for Drug Control, has arrested two individuals who attempted to smuggle 12 kilograms of methamphetamine into the country, successfully foiling the operation.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry said that the arrest came as part of its ongoing intensive security efforts and preemptive moves targeting drug smugglers and dealers.

It explained that the case began after receiving “highly confidential and precise” information about a plan to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using an innovative method.

After extensive investigation, surveillance and monitoring of the suspects’ movements, the relevant authorities arrested the two individuals and seized 12 kilograms of methamphetamine, it stated.

The drugs had been hidden inside hydraulic cylinders of drilling equipment and trucks in an attempt to mislead security personnel. The seized narcotics were confiscated, and the suspects were referred to the competent authorities to take required legal procedures against them, it pointed out.

The Ministry affirmed that it would remain fully vigilant in safeguarding the country’s security and will deal decisively with anyone attempting to harm society through the trafficking of these destructive substances, the statement concluded.
