Kuwait emerges victorious over Bahrain in the ACC T20 Cup

In a rain-affected match at the ACC T20 Asia Cup today at Oman Turf – 2Oman, Bahrain won the toss and put Kuwait in to bat first.

Despite a shaky start with Ravija Sanduruwan trapped in front of the wicket on the first ball, Clinto displayed an aggressive performance, scoring 19 runs off just 5 balls.

Meet Bhavsar anchored the innings with a classy knock of 54 runs off 36 balls, supported by Bilal Tahir who smashed 40 runs off 23 balls.

Kuwait set a formidable total of 161 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 15 overs. Imran and Ali Dawood were the pick of the bowlers for Bahrain, each picking up two wickets.

In response, Yasin Patel’s exceptional bowling in the powerplay restricted Bahrain’s top order, while Shahrukh, Adnan, and Nimish chipped in with crucial wickets.

Despite Sathaiya Veerapathiran’s efforts with an unbeaten 27 runs, Bahrain fell short of the target by 26 runs, ending their innings at 135 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Yasin Patel’s outstanding performance, claiming 3 wickets in 3 overs while conceding just 8 runs, earned him the deserving Player of the Match award.

With their second win, the men in blue & red have moved to second on the points table leaving the mighty UAE behind with one match to play against Oman on 17th April 2024.
