Kuwait dissolves three dormant and violating charities in regulatory crackdown
Kuwait has dissolved three charitable associations that were found to be dormant and in violation of regulatory requirements, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and oversight of the charitable sector, according to local media reports.
The decision comes after inspections and administrative reviews revealed that the organizations had ceased meaningful activity for extended periods while also failing to comply with required legal and financial obligations governing licensed charities in the country.
Authorities said the move is part of a broader campaign to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper use of charitable funds, stressing that all registered associations must adhere strictly to operational guidelines and reporting standards.
The Ministry of Social Affairs continues to monitor charitable organizations to ensure compliance with regulations, including regular auditing, submission of financial statements, and maintaining active programs aligned with approved objectives.
Officials reaffirmed that dormant or non-compliant charities would not be allowed to continue operating, and that legal action, including dissolution, would be taken where necessary to protect public trust and ensure proper governance of the sector.
