Kuwait crowned champions of the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League Playoff

Kuwait crowned champions of the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League Playoff as they beat Tanzania by 151 runs in a clinical finale showdown.

Captain Aslam won the toss and elected to bat first. The Kuwaiti batters dominated right from the get go courtesy a swashbuckling knock of powerplay from Ravija Sandaruwan scoring 64 runs in only 34 balls with four mammoth 6’s.

Mohammad Amin continued with his excellent consistence performance throughout the tournament with yet another 73 runs to the teams cause ensuring Kuwait finishes with a commanding total of 296 runs on the board. Valuable contributions with the bat from the dependable all rounders Yasin Patel, and Shiraz Khan yet again showed the depth of Kuwait’s batting line up.

In response, Tanzania faced an uphill task and never looked like chasing or even coming close to the target as they kept losing wickets with only Mohamed Omary making a significant contribution with 44 runs.

The exceptional spin bowling by Yasin Patel, who took 4 wickets, and the team’s skipper Aslam, who secured 3 wickets, played a crucial role in restricting Tanzania to 145 runs, leading to Kuwait’s championship victory.

This win marks a historic moment for Kuwait cricket as they claim their first championship title in an ICC 50 overs tournament and that too of this magnitude as it has granted Kuwait List A status from the ICC and speaks volumes about Kuwait National Men’s progress in international arena.

Mohammad Amin’s elegant performance rightfully earned him the Man of the Match award, highlighting his experience and significance to the team’s success in this crucial match as well as throughout the tournament.
