Kuwait, Algeria to shape future oil strategy at OPEC meeting

At the Algerian Embassy’s National Day celebration, Oil Minister Tarek Suleiman Ahmed Al-Roumi praised the strong and thriving Kuwaiti-Algerian relations across all areas of cooperation.

H.E. Abdul Qader Qasimi Al-Husny, the Algerian Ambassador to Kuwait, emphasized the strong, respectful, and cooperative ties between the two countries, with ongoing efforts to strengthen them in line with their leadership’s expectations.

Tarek Suleiman Ahmed Al-Roumi, the Minister of Oil, said assured that ongoing coordination with oil ministers and adherence to OPEC agreements will continue to control prices until signs of an increase emerge.

 

Tarek Suleiman Ahmed Al-Roumi, the Minister of Oil, commended the robust and dynamic nature of Kuwaiti-Algerian relations, describing them as exceptional and flourishing across all levels and areas of cooperation, as reported by Al Qabas newspaper.

During the Algerian Embassy’s ceremony marking the National Day and the 70th anniversary of the November Revolution, Al-Roumi announced that he would meet with the Algerian Minister of Energy on the sidelines of the upcoming OPEC meeting to develop a future plan aimed at supporting and strengthening oil economic cooperation.

Future of oil prices amid political fluctuations

Regarding the future of oil prices amid political fluctuations, he stated, “There is ongoing communication and continuous coordination with all oil ministers. God willing, there is a policy to control prices, and we will adhere to the agreements made at the last OPEC meeting. This policy will continue until we see signs of rising prices.”

Regarding his satisfaction with current oil prices, he said, “We strive to make the price of oil better than it is.”

Algerian-Kuwaiti ties distinguished by their historical depth

For his part, H.E. Abdul Qader Qasimi Al-Husny, the Algerian Ambassador to Kuwait, stated that Algerian-Kuwaiti relations are strong and distinguished by their historical depth, supported by deep-rooted ties dating back to the liberation revolution, which received both official and popular support from Kuwait.

He added, “The relations between the two countries are always characterized by mutual respect, understanding, and fruitful cooperation in various fields, marked by continuous consultation and close coordination. We are constantly working to develop and strengthen these ties to meet the expectations of the leaderships of both countries.”

He stated that both sides look forward to the convening of the joint committee between the two countries in 2025 to enhance and elevate bilateral cooperation to the highest levels.
