Kuwait affected by sporadic rain showers until Friday afternoon

The Kuwait Meteorological Department has predicted scattered rain showers of varying intensity, from light to moderate, with some thunderstorms in certain areas.

KMD Director Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi told KUNA on Wednesday that the country is currently experiencing a weather system characterized by some thunderstorms, especially in the western regions.

The system is expected to gradually extend to the interior regions over the next few hours and continue intermittently until after Friday afternoon.

Al-Qarawi added that the rain is expected to reach its peak on Thursday evening and continue until the early hours of Friday morning. It will be accompanied by strong winds exceeding 55 kilometers per hour, causing dust to rise and reducing horizontal visibility. The sea waves are also expected to rise to more than 6 feet.

The weather is expected to improve gradually from Friday evening onwards, with clouds decreasing and chances of rain diminishing as a high-pressure system approaches the country. However, there is a possibility of fog formation at night in some areas.

The KMD urges citizens and residents to take necessary precautions during the unstable weather conditions and to follow the latest weather updates through its official channels.
