On October 17, Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) hosted a series of Cybersecurity lectures featuring experts from the U.S. Department of Defense and the Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy.
The historical event marked the second Cybersecurity lecture series held in collaboration with KCST, which were aimed at highlighting Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
The lectures provided valuable insights about emerging trends and best practices for securing digital environments, with a focus on ‘U S- Kuwait’ cooperation in the field.
The Cybersecurity lecture series had the ultimate goal of strengthening critical infrastructure network resilience and building a digital economy for the future, unlocking new levels of collaboration and more broadly, promoting network security and digital growth.
The event was attended by representatives from Ministry of the Interior; Ministry of Education; National Cybersecurity Center; Central Authority for Information Technology and; KCST students.
The U.S. Embassy’s Economic Counselor, Brad Stilwell, opened the lecture series with remarks emphasizing the growing importance of ‘U S-Kuwait’ cooperation on Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence.
Following this, the U.S. military Cybersecurity expert, Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3), Carmona, delivered a presentation entitled “Securing the Future: Cybersecurity Best Practices,” which provided practical strategies for safeguarding information systems.
The U.S. military Cybersecurity experts, CW2 Whitesel and Sergeant First Class, Williamson; also conducted an interactive presentation on ‘Cyber Threat Intelligence’ engaging both professionals and students in discussions about emerging threats and practical solutions.
The speakers answered questions from attendees regarding the future of Artificial Intelligence, methods to increase Cybersecurity awareness, and effective strategies for protecting organizations from cyber threats.
The event served as an important platform for knowledge exchange, promoting a shared commitment to building a safer digital future.
Moreover, Professor Khalid Al-Begain, President of the Kuwait College of Science and Technology stated that, “Enhancing collaboration in the field of Cybersecurity between the university and the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait, is a crucial step towards a secure future”.
More importantly, Al-Begain said further that “through these lectures, participants explored advancements in Artificial Intelligence and digital security. We are proud to host prominent experts from the Embassy and Military Forces who shared their knowledge and experiences with us”.
To conclude, Al-Begain stated “Together, we are building bridges of trust and innovation to address future challenges. We are pleased to continue working together to achieve Cybersecurity and raise the necessary awareness”.
