- Meeting highlights growing Kuwait–Tajikistan ties and the role of direct air connectivity in supporting tourism, trade, investment and greater people-to-people engagement
Jazeera Airways welcomed the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Kuwait, H.E. Khusruv Noziri, to its headquarters, as Kuwait and Tajikistan enter a new phase in their bilateral relationship. Discussions focused on the role that direct air connectivity can play in supporting the growing diplomatic, economic, tourism and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Relations between Kuwait and Tajikistan have gained significant momentum in recent months, marked by the opening of Kuwait’s first resident embassy in Dushanbe in July 2026 and the appointment of H.E. Mohammad Rashed Al-Omairi as Kuwait’s first resident Ambassador to Tajikistan. The milestone has been followed by a series of senior-level engagements aimed at expanding cooperation across political, economic, consular, cultural and tourism fields.
Jazeera Airways has played an important role in strengthening connectivity between the two countries for the last four years. On 29 December 2022, Jazeera became the first airline to operate direct flights between Kuwait and Dushanbe. Since launching the route, the airline has operated close to 600 flights and carried more than 87,000 passengers, helping build stronger links between the two countries.
Beyond direct Kuwait – Tajikistan travel, the service also connects passengers from Dushanbe through Kuwait to Jazeera Airways’ wider network across the Middle East and Asia. This includes convenient onward travel to Saudi Arabia, other Gulf destinations and India, strengthening Kuwait’s role as a gateway for travelers from Central Asia and providing important connectivity for passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed Tajikistan’s significant tourism potential and its growing appeal to travelers from Kuwait and the wider region. With spectacular mountains, lakes and natural landscapes alongside a rich history and cultural heritage, Tajikistan offers a distinctive destination for Kuwaiti families, expatriate communities, nature and adventure seekers and travelers looking for new experiences in Central Asia.
Recent bilateral discussions have explored opportunities to expand tourism cooperation, cultural and academic exchanges, joint initiatives and events, further strengthening connections between the people of Kuwait and Tajikistan.
H.E. Khusruv Noziri, said, “Relations between Tajikistan and Kuwait are entering an important new chapter, with growing engagement between our governments and significant opportunities to expand cooperation across tourism, trade, investment, culture and education. The establishment of Kuwait’s resident embassy in Dushanbe is an important milestone that reflects the strength of our relationship and our shared ambition to take it further.
“Direct air connectivity is an important part of bringing our countries and our people closer together. Jazeera Airways has played a valuable role as the first airline to establish direct flights between Kuwait and Dushanbe, creating new opportunities for tourism, business and people-to-people exchange. We look forward to working together to promote Tajikistan as a destination and strengthen connectivity between Tajikistan, Kuwait and the wider region,” the ambassador added.
The discussions also highlighted opportunities to encourage greater engagement between Kuwaiti investors and businesses and Tajikistan. Welcoming the Ambassador, Barathan Pasupathi, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, said, “The relationship between Kuwait and Tajikistan is gaining real momentum, and aviation has an important role to play in supporting that growth.
“Jazeera Airways was proud to become the first airline to directly connect Kuwait and Dushanbe in 2022, and since then we have operated close to 600 flights and carried more than 87,000 passengers on the route.
“Our ambition goes beyond connecting two cities. Through Kuwait, we can connect travelers from Tajikistan with destinations across our wider network, including Saudi Arabia, the Gulf and India, while making Tajikistan more accessible to travelers from Kuwait and the region.
“As diplomatic, tourism, cultural and economic ties between our countries continue to strengthen, we see significant potential for aviation to bring our people, businesses and economies even closer together,” Pasupathi added.
The meeting comes at a time of growing engagement between Kuwait and Tajikistan and reflects the shared commitment of Jazeera Airways and the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in supporting this new chapter with greater connectivity to promote tourism, investment, trade and stronger ties between the people of both countries.
