
The Embassy of Japan announced in a press release that the Government of Japan is offering a scholarship for Kuwaiti teachers who wish to conduct research on school education at designated Japanese Universities.
The Japanese Government Scholarship, established in 1954, aims to foster mutual understanding between the people of Japan and those of other nations, while contributing internationally to the advancement of intellectual exchange.
Kuwaitis who meet the qualifications below are eligible to apply:
- Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1991.
- Applicants must be graduates of universities or teacher training schools, and have worked as teachers at elementary, middle, high schools or teacher training schools in Kuwait for at least five years as of October 1, 2026. In-service faculty members in higher education institutions are not eligible.
- Applicants should be physically fit to participate in the program.
- Applicants must be interested in Japan and willing to deepen their understanding of Japan after arriving there. Applicants must also have the ability to do research in Japan and adapt to living there.
- Applicants must return to Kuwait by the end of the final month of the scholarship period and resume their work as teachers in their educational institutions.

Applications must be submitted in person at the Embassy of Japan after scheduling an appointment. And after receiving the applications, the Embassy will conduct the document screening, written examinations in English and Japanese, and personal interviews in order to select the scholarship awardee.
The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 03:00 pm.
