Issue resurfaces to transfer nurseries from Social Affairs to Education Ministry

The issue of transferring the responsibility for nurseries from the Ministry of Social Affairs to the Ministry of Education has resurfaced as part of ongoing government efforts to resolve administrative overlaps and enhance integration in early childhood education services.

Informed sources told Al-Rai that recent discussions took place between the Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, and the Minister of Education, Eng. Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, focusing on reorganizing responsibilities between the two ministries, particularly regarding nurseries and services for people with special needs.

Preliminary consensus has reportedly been reached to refer several aspects of the matter to the relevant committees within the Council of Ministers for a comprehensive review.

This study will examine all legal, regulatory, and technical considerations related to the transfer, including licensing procedures, oversight responsibilities, and adherence to approved educational standards.

If the proposal gains Cabinet approval, sources expect that joint working groups will be formed by both ministries to oversee a phased implementation.

This approach aims to preserve service quality, enhance supervisory efficiency, provide staff training, and modernize nursery programs to meet contemporary educational standards.
