Interior Ministry raises community awareness on threats, extortion and cyber crimes

The Ministry emphasized the importance of digital security and responsible online behavior to protect individuals and the broader community in Kuwait.

The General Directorate of Security Relations and Information at the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, represented by the Department of Combating Electronic Crimes, organized a training course for “Security Media” members of officers and non-commissioned officers, entitled: “Preparing lectures to raise awareness of the risks and types of cybercrime and ways to prevent them”.

The Ministry of Interior in a press statement on Tuesday, mentioned that this course comes within the framework of its keenness to raise the efficiency of police officers and their professional and scientific skills in line with security developments.

Additionally, The Ministry affirmed that this course was presented by, Lieutenant Colonel Ammar Hamid Al-Sarraf, Acting Head of the Support Services Department in the Department of Combating Electronic Crimes, in which he dealt with the definition of electronic crime and the laws on combating it.

Moreover, during this course, Lt. Col. Al-Sarraf specifically focused on the crimes on harming human dignity, threats, extortion and penetration of personal accounts, in addition to the methods of fraud, piracy and impersonation. Also the methods of protection and methods of preventing these crimes were reviewed.

On a concluding note, The Ministry emphasized the significance of this course, which aims to enhance community awareness and raise the efficiency of the members of the General Directorate of Relations and Security Information, by providing comprehensive and effective lectures that will contribute immensely in raising awareness about the several risks committed through cybercrimes.
