Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior (Kuwait), Major General Abdul Wahab Ahmed Al-Wahib, carried out a comprehensive maritime inspection tour on Saturday to assess field readiness following the decision to allow fishing and recreational vessels to resume operations.

The tour covered several sites affiliated to the General Directorate of Coast Guard (Kuwait), reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring the safe and regulated return of maritime activities.

Upon arrival, Al-Wahib was received by Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah, Director General of the Coast Guard, who provided a detailed briefing on operational procedures and measures implemented to regulate boat movement and maintain maritime safety, reports Al-Rai daily.

During the tour, officials reviewed advanced navigational systems and modern surveillance technologies designed to enhance monitoring capabilities. Particular focus was placed on the use of marine drones, which play an increasingly important role in supporting security operations and strengthening coastal oversight.

The delegation also inspected the Nawaf Al-Ahmad Coast Guard Base on one of the northern islands, where progress on a new radar system tower was showcased.

The system is expected to significantly improve the monitoring and protection of Kuwait’s maritime borders through advanced detection capabilities.

Al-Wahib emphasized the importance of maintaining high levels of readiness and strengthening field presence to ensure the effective implementation of the decision permitting maritime activities.

He noted that the Ministry aims to strike a careful balance between enabling economic and recreational use of the sea and safeguarding public safety.

He praised the dedication of Coast Guard personnel, highlighting their vital role in protecting territorial waters and ensuring the security of all sea users.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to continuously monitoring the implementation of regulatory measures, ensuring compliance and adapting to evolving conditions.

The inspection tour underscores Kuwait’s broader efforts to support maritime sectors while maintaining strict safety standards, reflecting a proactive approach to managing coastal activity in a secure and controlled environment.
