Information Ministry adopts participatory approach in planning sustainable development

Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi affirmed the Ministry adopted a participatory approach in planning its strategy (2021-2026), which is a globally approved scientific methodology, aiming to involve all concerned parties in the decision-making process.

Minister Al-Mutairi said during a press conference on Sunday at the Government Communication Center entitled (Outputs of the Ministry of Information Strategy) that this conference comes under the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the instructions of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to be transparent when presenting information to citizens and enhancing media communication.

He explained that various work teams were formed in the ministry that collected information, managed discussion groups and desk surveys, and reviewed the best global practices and international experiences to ensure the strategy is compatible with international standards.

After collecting all the data and information, the ministry launched and approved the strategy, which was judged by a committee of specialists, guiding the employees who worked on developing the output strategy, the minister added.

He noted that the work mechanism was based on operational plans, which focuses on increasing productivity and controlling quality, and creative initiatives which the ministry proceeded with in directions based on its strategic objectives.

Regarding the paths of the past three years, the minister stated that 99 electronic systems were launched to keep pace with and advance digital transformation processes, adding that these processes greatly helped improve the business environment, increasing the television and radio advertising revenues.

The government printing press also succeeded in increasing its revenues by 65 percent, and the revenues of the official newspaper increased by 30 percent, while the revenues of licensing application fees increased by 97 percent.

A total of 4,735 regional exchanges regarding content creation were obtained, in addition to archiving film and photography materials since 1958, to reach 200 thousand materials, which increased the followers of media content on social media networks by 34 percent.

Regarding quality control operations, Al-Mutairi said they launched a set of work guidelines for safer procedures and a higher quality media product, and a set of ministerial decisions related to regulating the content industry and services provided by the ministry, noting the ministry carried out 83,000 inspection tours so far.

He stated that all these measures helped the winning rate of cases reach 83 percent after it was 22 percent, which in turn helped the ministry win 40 local and regional awards.

Regarding the qualitative initiatives, the ministry launched (Platform 51) as a strategic approach that takes into account age groups, and launched institutional volunteering initiative, in addition to launching initiatives to develop the visual and audio identity.

It also launched an initiative to evaluate media content and broadcasters within the ministry, an initiative to develop Kuwaiti drama, in addition to the media regulation initiative .and the electronic commercial advertising platform initiative.

Al-Mutairi revealed that the official identity of the new news channel will be announced, and then launched on July 28, while stressing that the achievements made are the beginning of a journey full of challenges and opportunities, in pursuit of achieving the New Kuwait Vision 2035.
