• Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said his country is ready to send planes to transport Palestinians, provided all parties agree, noting they would stay temporarily in Indonesia and return to Gaza once the situation stabilizes.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced on Wednesday that Indonesia is ready to temporarily host Palestinians affected by Israeli aggression in Gaza, pending approval from all concerned parties. His statement came as he began a Middle East tour that includes stops in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, and Türkiye, according to Arabic daily Al Rai.
“We are prepared to receive approximately 1,000 Palestinians from Gaza as a first step, whether they are wounded, traumatized, or have lost their families,”President Subianto said at a press conference before departing for Abu Dhabi, the first stop on his tour.
He noted, “This initiative comes in response to Indonesia’s call for a more effective role by the international community, leveraging its status as a non-aligned country and as the world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation.”
The Indonesian president explained that the tour is aimed at consulting directly with the leaders of the five countries, as he has been receiving calls and envoys inquiring about Indonesia’s willingness to help address the situation in Gaza.
“We are prepared to send planes to transport them, but only if all parties agree,” he added. “These Palestinians will stay here temporarily until the situation improves. Once stability returns to Gaza, they must go back. That’s why I need to consult with the leaders of these regions.”
He also confirmed that the plan will be discussed with the Palestinian government, with Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiyono to meet Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyehand Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa.
