The Times Kuwait Report
- India’s message to Kuwait during a period of regional uncertainty is crystal clear – New Delhi stands firmly with Kuwait and remains ready to support its close partner in addressing emerging challenges.
Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Paramita Tripathi described the recent visit of India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar as a strong expression of solidarity, saying the visit reflected the depth of the relationship between the two countries and India’s willingness to extend cooperation wherever needed.
Speaking on the sidelines of a farewell reception for the Turkish ambassador, the Indian envoy Tripathi said Jaishankar conveyed to Kuwait’s leadership a message of friendship, reassurance and commitment, highlighting India’s readiness to work together on areas of mutual importance.
She said discussions focused on key priorities, including food security, supply chain resilience and logistics connectivity, areas that have gained greater importance amid global and regional challenges.
As part of India’s support efforts, the ambassador noted that New Delhi had provided specialized firefighting foam materials to assist Kuwait in tackling major fire incidents.
A Visit Focused on Partnership and Stability
Describing the visit as a “visit of solidarity,” Ambassador Tripathi said it also paved the way for further high-level exchanges between the two countries.
She confirmed that additional bilateral visits are expected in the coming period, with both sides working to continue discussions on agreements and expand cooperation, although details of the upcoming engagements have not yet been announced.
During his visit, Jaishankar held meetings with senior Kuwaiti officials, including His Highness the Crown Prince, His Highness the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and the Defence Minister.
The discussions covered bilateral relations, regional security developments and the wider impact of current geopolitical challenges on regional and global stability.
The ambassador said the warm reception given to Jaishankar by Kuwait reflected the strength of the historic relationship between the two nations and the commitment of both leaderships to further strengthen their partnership.
Indian Community Remains a Priority
During his Kuwait visit, Jaishankar also met members of the Indian community, an engagement Ambassador Tripathi described as an important opportunity to listen directly to their concerns and understand their situation.
She said the Indian Embassy had remained in constant contact with community members, while authorities in New Delhi received regular updates on their well-being.
The minister reaffirmed that the safety and welfare of Indians living abroad remains a top priority for the Indian government. The ambassador said members of the community welcomed the visit, appreciating the opportunity to interact with the minister and learn more about the government’s efforts to support Indian citizens overseas.
Ambassador Tripathi expressed optimism about the future of Kuwait-India relations, saying both countries are looking to increase official exchanges and strengthen cooperation across multiple fields. With decades of close economic, cultural and people-to-people ties, Kuwait and India continue to build on a partnership that extends beyond diplomacy — one rooted in mutual trust, shared interests and a commitment to supporting each other during times of need.
