On January 9th, the Embassy of Japan in Kuwait and the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL) jointly hosted the opening ceremony of the “Hiroshima Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Posters Exhibition” at Funoon Hall in the Ahmad Al-Adwani Art Gallery.
The poster exhibition was held in collaboration with the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, and the Embassy of Kuwait in Japan.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Mr. Mukai Kenichiro, Ambassador of Japan to Kuwait, expressed his gratitude to all the organizations involved in organizing the exhibition.
Ambassador Kenichiro emphasized that the exhibition’s most important message is to pass on the tragedy of the atomic bomb to future generations to ensure it is never repeated and to reaffirm the importance of peace. He also highlighted that Kuwait is hosting the first atomic bomb poster exhibition in the Arab world.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Acting Secretary General of NCCAL, Dr. Mohammad Al-Jassar, and the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Mr. Sami Al-Zamanan. The event also saw the presence of numerous public figures, including ambassadors, artists such as the renowned Kuwaiti artist Ms. Thuraya Al-Baqsami, and students.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until January 20th, with the hope that it will inspire visitors to strive for a peaceful, nuclear-weapon-free world.
