General Fire Force Urges Public to Stay Calm and Seek Shelter During Sirens
The General Fire Force (GFF) has called on the public to remain calm and act responsibly upon hearing warning sirens, stressing that such alerts indicate potential danger and require immediate but composed action.
Speaking to Kuwait Television, Abdullah Al-Hajji from the Public Relations and Media Department explained that individuals should avoid panic and refrain from random movement. Instead, they are advised to proceed calmly to the nearest safe shelter and remain there until the alert has ended.
Al-Hajji revealed that the department recently handled seven routine reports, all of which were successfully controlled before being referred to the relevant authorities for further procedures.
He emphasized the importance of avoiding (crowds) and staying away from hazardous locations, including open spaces, upper floors, and areas near glass windows, due to the potential risks during emergencies.
Residents were advised to take refuge in the basement of their homes, where available, as it offers a safer environment. He also underscored the need to reassure children and maintain calm within families to prevent panic.
Highlighting preventive safety measures, Al-Hajji noted that in-home safety systems are a critical line of defense. He recommended equipping homes with fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and high-quality automatic electrical circuit breakers, in addition to installing comprehensive visual and audio alarm systems.
He further stressed the importance of designing homes with safe emergency exits and preparing a clear response plan for fires and other incidents, which significantly enhances readiness and ensures the safety of residents.
